Essay regarding «Lockers» Erica Fryberg Poems Analysis

The poem " Lockers” by simply Erica Fryberg describes the pain and challenges a lady goes through while at the school. Two predominant themes in this composition include bullying and pressure from school job. Being a teenager and knowing the fact that secondary school life is quite difficult, I was able to relate to this composition, thus creating me to enjoy and love what the creator has created.

One of the apparent styles in " Lockers” can be academic pressure and lack of freedom. This can be clearly illustrated when Fryberg writes: " Tests, deadlines, homework … pressure” inside the first distinctive line of the third stanza. She thinks that university is overloading her and taking control of very clear thoughts. This lady has a strong prefer to get rid of this kind of stress and anxiety on the other hand she knows that she is struggling to, therefore she asks: " Why can't those always be concealed in lockers? ”. Fryberg uses the word ‘prison' as a metaphor to refer for the locker. Your woman imagines burying the issue within a " prison”; a place where the guilty and wrongdoing happen to be held limited.

Bullying and peer pressure is another main theme in this poem. This kind of theme is very obvious within the last stanza exactly where Fryberg as well expresses the isolation she gets. She is afraid of rivalry; this is elaborated through the range " Jealous feuds related to competitions”. The phrase: " Loneliness, nasty ostracism” signifies that the copy writer is also fearful of rejection and being exclusively. She desires for locking away the bullying and remoteness.

Fryberg works on the lot of symbolism to color pictures in the reader's mind throughout the entire poem. She also uses uncommon words including ‘caress' to describe the waving of cockroach feelers. Her tone slowly but surely becomes more and more angry and aggressive since the poem progresses. " … the doorway and turn/lose the key” is used within the last line of every verse.
